Common Problems with Alexa

Echo Dot does a great job registering commands, but sometimes issues arise. Here's how to fix the most common ones quickly.

Alexa Does Not Understand Me

Use the voice training tool inside the Alexa app. Navigate to Settings → Your Profile → Voice Training to help Alexa better recognise your speech patterns and accent over time.

Alexa Fails to Connect With Other Devices

Try a hard-reset of both your Echo Dot and your smartphone. Then disconnect and reconnect the smart home devices within the Alexa app to fully restore control.

Alexa Is Facing Wi-Fi Problems

An orange light indicates Wi-Fi issues. Power-cycle your Echo, modem, and router. Then use the Alexa app's Change Wi-Fi option to reconnect the device to your network.
